Interest in Electricity - 1745

Benjamin Franklin first became interested in electricity after his friend Peter Collinson sent him this issue of Gentleman's Magazine along with a glass tube for generating static electricity.

The issue contains a short article on  "Discoveries concerning electricity - some very surprising [and] not published before".  It was this article that launched Franklin headfirst into the wonderful new science of electricity.¹⁴
